Benik Afobe thanked the Arsenal fans following his brilliant reception when we played Bournemouth on Sunday.
The striker, who has scored three goals in four appearances for the Cherries since joining during the winter transfer window for a record £10m, played for Arsenal since he was a young boy and facing us in the league must have been strange.
The traveling Arsenal supporters made sure to give him a standing ovation when he was subbed off in the 77th minute as chants of “Gooner” rang out around the stadium. Although he’s obviously no longer an Arsenal player, it showed him how we appreciate what he did for the club, what he’s doing for his new one and what he’ll do in the future. It was a nice touch.
Gutted we lost but positives from the 2nd half. Loved the support from #AFCB & #AFC fans, it means a lot. Thank you pic.twitter.com/P4OMqWFMzw

I can’t help but be skeptical that if we were losing or Afobe was playing for a rival club we would have given him the same courtesy. However, that’s not currently the case.
