Arsene Wenger, along with the majority of the Goonerverse, is chuffed to bits with the win over Newcastle on Saturday.

We didn’t necessarily play horrifically, we were just very leggy and sloppy. It wasn’t the worst performance I’ve seen but we had no business winning it, that’s for sure.

Speaking after the match, Wenger admitted how glad he was to not drop points after our lethargic performance.

“To not drop points after the way we played today helped,” he said.

“Lets focus on the fact we are in a strong position.”

Although it sounds like Wenger is just brushing over the performance by trying to get everyone to focus on our league position, he’s not. As a manager, he knows how winning ugly is just part of getting over the finishing line. As it stands, we’re top of the table and the title’s in our hands. Poor performances are okay as long as we’re getting the right results and they’re not becoming a habit.

At the end of the day, we won. We have all three points. Let’s move on.
