Arsene Wenger has admitted that although he’s going to be cautious with reintroducing Alexis back into the squad, there is a chance he could be ready for Sunday.

The forward tweaked his hamstring against Norwich earlier in the season and although he was initially only supposed to be sidelined for a few games, the Chilean is yet to return.

Speaking after our 3-3 draw with Liverpool on Wednesday, the boss admitted that this was mainly down to being cautious and that Alexis would face late fitness tests to work out whether he’s up to being involved against Stoke on Sunday.

“I will be cautious now,” said Wenger.

“There is an opportunity that he will be in the squad for Sunday. He will have a definite test on Saturday and Friday and Saturday will be two important days for him. It is not impossible that he will be involved.”

Stoke would be a dangerous game to reintroduce the 27-year-old, since the Potters aren’t exactly known for being gentle. However, if he doesn’t start, we could see an appearance at some point during the game.

Another player who could be involved is Tomas Rosicky, who’s been out for months with a knee injury and trained with our first team ahead of our match at Anfield.
