Arsene Wenger revealed post-Liverpool draw that Mohamed Elneny is indeed an Arsenal player and that we hope to get everything sorted by Sunday.

On Sunday, we face Stoke away and if Elneny is involved, what a welcome to the Premier League, eh?

The four-and-a-half year deal for the defensive midfielder has been all but finalised over the last few days, with his medical passed and deal agreed. However, it appears there’s just a little paperwork left to complete.

The 23-year-old is exactly who we need to step in to replace the injured Coquelin, who’s likely to still be out for a while. Although we have Flamini and Arteta, the former is likely to leave soon and the latter is incredibly injury-prone.

Getting some young blood in, in a position we desperately need to strengthen is sensible and it’s good to see this was first on Wenger’s to-do list once the transfer window opened.
