Chuba Akpom scored the first hat-trick of his professional career for Hull City against Bury in the FA Cup on Saturday but the striker admitted it almost didn’t happen.

Speaking after the match, the Arsenal loanee admitted that David Meyler didn’t want him to take the penalty, which led to Akpom’s second goal of the match. In fact, he was dead-set against it and it was the manager, Steve Bruce, who spoke up and said the loan player should take it.

Akpom slotted it home neatly and obviously went on to score another stunner.

The match ended 3-1 to Hull.
