Austin Amutu, a 22-year-old striker from the Israeli team Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona, has revealed that his dream club is Arsenal.

Despite only just making his debut for the club and scoring two goals, the Nigerian revealed that he’s targeting a move to Arsenal one day.

“It has been my dream to play for Arsenal, they came for me while I was at Warri Wolves and I think it was money that truncated the whole thing, by now I should be playing for Arsenal or any team in England,” he said.

“I am happy that a coach like [Arsene] Wenger has interest in me for long, still keeps his eyes on me and has not lost interest. I believe I am not far away from my dream of playing for Arsenal.”

Steady on.

As much as it’s pleasant to hear players dreaming of one day playing for us, if we were really that keen on the striker, we would have gone back after we failed the first time. Also, it does appear as if Amutu just wants to play in the Premiership, with Arsenal being his favoured club.

In terms of professionalism, it’s not great to see someone already looking for a move just after playing his debut, even though he is just on a training contract.

Even if he does dream of playing for Arsenal, it’s not the type of comment he should be making when he has a job to do for his current team. He needs to focus on the task at hand and what will be, will be.
