After leaving Arsenal for Manchester City in the two summers ago, Bacary Sagna has admitted that he stands by his decision.

The right-back left Arsenal for the Blues in search of a better contract, which, considering his age, was understandable. Getting a big money contract when retirement is on the horizon isn’t an unusual thing and no one should mark him down for that.

Speaking after we dropped points to Liverpool, the Frenchman admitted that he was glad that we did so, as City need something to capitalise on. He also insisted that he doesn’t regret leaving north London.

“I’m happy yes, because this season we have the room to take the league, the room to start winning games again as we did in the first part of the season,” he said.

“We have the room to be champions. I don’t want to have any regrets.

“I’d say this was a good point now. If they were five points ahead of us it’d be very difficult to catch them.”

Manchester City are now top of the Premier League on goal difference with us traveling to the Britannia for our match against Stoke on Sunday. They’re currently level on points with both us and Leicester (!) and his comments are bound to spark the kind of overreaction that Arsenal fans seem to crave.

The man is talking about his former club versus his new one. I’m not sure why people would want him to be unhappy or expect him to talk us up over his current team.
