Sporting his trademark backwards cap, Mesut Ozil spoke to Arsenal Player recently about our chances against Liverpool on Wednesday and he seems pretty optimistic if you ask me.

The German acknowledged that new Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, will have drilled the Reds ‘perfectly’ in anticipation of our trip to Anfield but he reckons we’ll have enough to overcome them.

“We know we can beat Liverpool and we also know that they will give their best against us, with Jurgen Klopp who will prepare them perfectly,” he said.

“But our aim is to play our game and get the three points – that’s why we’re travelling there.

It’s good to see the playmaker believing in himself and his team-mates. The character he portrays now is completely different from the figure he cut a season or two ago. His confidence has reached new heights but although he must be aware of how much we rely on his brilliance, he still remains a team player.

It’s likely that Ozil will get a start against Liverpool considering he was rested for our match on Saturday against Sunderland in the FA Cup, which we won 3-1. The victory was a fantastic example of how although we look better with Ozil in the side, we are capable of winning without him.
