Since our match against Barcelona in the Champions League is edging closer and closer, it’s useful to keep an eye on their fixtures and results.
On Saturday, the La Liga team faced Malaga and despite a shaky first half, which ended 1-1 thanks to goals from Barce boy Munir El Haddad in the 2nd minute and Malaga’s 21-year-old Juanpi in the 32nd, the Catalans won 2-1 after a goal early in the second half from none other than Lionel Messi.
Concerningly, former Arsenal defender, Thomas Vermaelen, is still having a tough time and was actually subbed at half time due to a borderline-comical performance in the first half.
His mistakes caused gaping holes in the defence, allowing Malaga to attack at will and rendering some of Barca’s best players up front useless. Vermaelen’s display was summed up at the end of the first half when he fell backwards and missed the ball.
