Liverpool have confirmed that Arsenal Ladies have had a bid for Nigerian forward, Asisat Oshoala, accepted.
The statement read “Liverpool Ladies Football Club can today confirm that the Club has reluctantly accepted a bid from Arsenal Ladies for Asisat Oshoala.
“After the Gunners activated a clause in the Nigerian international’s contract, the striker will now discuss personal terms with Pedro Martinez Losa’s side.
“The deal is also subject to the 21 year old being granted a work permit ahead of the 2016 season.”
The young forward was the inaugural recipient of the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year 2015. She was also a double-award winner at the u20 2014 World Cup played in Canada, where Nigeria finished as runners-up, losing to Germany in extra-time in the final.
She won the Golden Ball (player of the tournament) and the Golden Shoe (top goalscorer) and therefore will come with a great pedigree and will certainly add depth to the Gunners squad.
There is a question mark about her position on the pitch as Arsenal Ladies usually play in 4-3-3 and she could either play as an attacking midfielder or in any of the three forward positions.
Considering pace is her main asset, she might be useful playing on either wing.
Whatever happens, she will be a welcome addition.
