After Arsenal somehow managed to beat Newcastle 1-0 on Saturday, the Magpies’ boss revealed he can’t quite believe it.

Although the Gunners started strong, Newcastle quickly grew into the game and gave us a real run for our money. We were completely outplayed, particularly in midfield, and I was sure we were about to be on the wrong end of an embarrassing result.

When we scored through Koscielny, as happy as we all were, I’m pretty sure the stadium, opposition fans, and players were all in a minor state of shock.

Speaking after the game, Steve McClaren revealed that he can’t believe that his team failed to beat us.

“The players can’t believe it, we controlled and dominated the game after the first 10 minutes,” he said.

Saying this, although Newcastle did have the run of game and more chances, they didn’t have the quality to capitalise on them.

Winning these types of games is crucial for our title campaign and that was a huge three points. Character development or what?
