Arsenal fans will be glad to know that Mark Clattenburg, and not Mike Dean, will be in charge of their game against Chelsea this weekend.
The last time the two sides met Arsenal were robbed blind by Dean who opted to ignore Diego Costa assaulting his way around the pitch and send two Arsenal players off instead.
This time, however, it will be Clattenburg who takes charge and while the referee has some high-profile blunders of his own in his portfolio, he doesn’t come close to what Dean offers.
A top level official since 2004, Clattenburg is a referee who likes to think he’s mates with the players – an approach that can often lead to him being a little too lenient at times.
This will be his second Arsenal match of the season having previously been in charge of the Gunners 2-1 defeat at West Brom.
Averaging just over three yellows per game and a red every six games, this is his fourth Chelsea game of the season with the Blues also losing at West Brom, at home to Liverpool, and away to Leicester when he was in charge.
