Guus Hiddink claims that he hasn’t seen the incident between Gabriel and Diego Costa, which happened during our last run in with Chelsea, and admits he can’t prevent the striker from acting out again.
Speaking ahead of the London derby, the newly appointed Blues’ manager has claimed to not have seen the controversial incident between our defender and Costa, in which their player decided to take a swipe at Laurent Koscielny, Gabriel stepped in and the lovely character that is Costa managed to get our player sent off.
In fact, Hiddink claims he can’t even promise that his player will behave this time around.
“I cannot guarantee, because we’re not dealing with machines,” the Chelsea manager said. “We’re dealing with human beings, but when he is focusing on where he’s good at, around the box, then he’s of big worth.”
As a manager, this statement is ridiculous. It’s your job to control your players and make sure they don’t lash out like petulant children. If a player is that unpredictable, should he really be playing in the first place?
All eyes will be on Costa come Sunday. Let’s hope he doesn’t let himself down for the 100th time this season, although I won’t hold my breath.
