Kieran Gibbs is one of the first Arsenal players to welcome new Ladies signing, Fara Williams, to north London.

The midfielder signed for us from Liverpool Ladies on Tuesday and will be a strong addition to the side.

The England international is experienced and will add a level head, as well as quality, to the current Arsenal Ladies team.

It’s refreshing to see Gibbs, a player from the men’s team, welcoming a new member of the Ladies’ to Arsenal. There aren’t many clubs whose men’s team even acknowledges the women’s, let alone welcomes new players to the club.

It once again shows the ‘family’ feeling we have at Arsenal and how once you don the shirt, you become a part of it. Supporting each other, no matter what part of the club we play for, can ultimately only make us stronger.

In addition, having popular players from the men’s team drawing attention to the women’s could have a positive impact on the number of people interested.

Welcome to Arsenal, Fara.
