Although Liverpool beat Stoke 1-0 in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final, the occasion was soured slightly by injuries to two more of their key players.

Both Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren limped off in the first half against the Potters with hamstring problems, which means they’re likely to miss Liverpool’s clash with Arsenal on Wednesday.

The news will come as a blow to Liverpool, who are already missing Daniel Sturridge, Martin Skrtel and Divock Origi all due to similar injuries.

Coutinho has scored five goals so far this season and created three, while Lovren has been a consistent feature at centre-back and has rarely missed an opportunity to play a full 90 minutes.

The two are key players for the Reds and therefore, potentially a bit of light relief for when we face them in our next Premier League fixture, especially as we’re playing at Anfield.

Not that I’m making excuses or anything…
