Remi Garde is reportedly confident that Mathieu Debuchy will become an Aston Villa player before the transfer window is up.

Although time is running out for the right-back to find a new club, apparently the Frenchman held talks with the Midlands team earlier in January and they were positive. However, Debuchy decided to wait until later in the window to make a decision, just in case someone better came along (charming).

The former Newcastle man has been linked with a move to Villa for a number of weeks now, although it’s been common knowledge that he’d leaving north London for a while. Lack of playing time means his chances of getting picked for Euro 2016 are getting slimmer and slimmer and the defender wants to show that he deserves a place in France’s squad.

It’s thought that it will only be a loan move. However, I’m not sure how much of a future Debuchy really has at Arsenal. Perhaps a permanent deal would be better for both player and club?
