Arsenal have told Standard Sport they are willing to refund non-season ticket holders who have purchased a ticket for the game against Leicester City in February.
Televised fixtures for February were announced back in December, but Sky Sports apparently changed their mind after the game was confirmed to be a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 13th February.
The game will now take place at 12pm the following day, but fans were given fewer than four weeks notice when the rescheduling was announced on Thursday. The travelling Leicester City fans will have to rearrange their plans, while Arsenal fans come from all over the world to each game and could be put out by the rearrangement.
As a result, Arsenal have now offered a refund to members who have bought tickets for this game.
“We are sorry that our fans have been inconvenienced by the late change of this fixture,” a spokesperson for the club told Standard Sport.
“We should point out we have received only a handful of calls about this from supporters. Any Arsenal supporter who has purchased an individual match ticket from the club who is unable to attend is entitled to a full refund. The same applies to any fans who have purchased their ticket on our ticket exchange system.”
It’s an excellent gesture, and one that will be appreciated by fans. Well done Arsenal, let’s hope Sky and BT follow suit and offer to help Leicester fans who will have to rearrange their trip to London.
Update: East Midlands trains are accepting tickets booked for the original date of the game so Leicester City fans won’t be out of pocket. Another fantastic gesture.
#EMTUpdate: Pre booked rail tickets for 13 Feb will be accepted on our trains on 14 Feb when travelling with your @LCFC match ticket.
