We’ve been waiting a month to find out where Mathieu Debuchy is off to, but he still hasn’t found a club.
The right-back hasn’t played for Arsenal since Héctor Bellerín was injured at the beginning of November, and has only made the bench for one of Arsenal’s last seven Premier League games.
With Euro 2016 on the horizon and Debuchy out of Didier Deschamps’ France squad, the defender is keen to play regularly before the summer. He’s been very vocal about his desire to play more and seems to resent the fact he lost his place to Héctor Bellerín.
Aston Villa appear to have been the front runners, but Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has now confirmed he has made an approach for the defender.
Allardyce also confirms an approach has been made to Arsenal for Mathieu Debuchy, but it has as yet gone no further.

The move would suit Debuchy as he knows that part of the country, but his time at Newcastle United may put him off playing for their north-east rivals. However, with the window closing on Monday he doesn’t have long to find a club if he’s still intent on leaving north London.
Any deal taking him to Villa Park seems to have stalled, and Carl Jenkinson’s injury means the Gunners can’t recall him from West Ham United. Arsenal haven’t got a real replacement for Debuchy’s place in the squad and are relying on Bellerín staying fit as he has done for almost the entire season so far.
Maybe the Gunners are reluctant to let Debuchy go until a solution is found that suits everyone.
