Arsenal are approaching the busiest period of the season with a huge number of injuries.

There’s still no sign of Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck has suffered another setback, Tomas Rosicky is nowhere to be seen. All three are yet to play this season, and are currently joined by Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin in being sidelined for the foreseeable future. All that adds up to a bit of a thin squad, and Arsène Wenger has told BeIN Sports that he will look to add someone early in the January transfer window.

“Yes, we are short and the number of games we have to play in January are very important,” said the Arsenal boss. “God knows how we will come out of the Christmas period, with a lot of demand on the physical front so we need to do something.

“I would love to give you some names, downstairs on the bar with a coffee but not in front of your camera”

Making deals early in January will be tricky, especially when other clubs know the Gunners are looking desperate.

The manger said as much in his pre-Manchester City press conference on Thursday morning; incoming deals won’t only depend on Arsenal’s wishes.

Still, it’s encouraging that the club seem eager to get something done, as it is likely to be needed.
