Arsenal haven’t been having the best luck or results recently and a win against Sunderland at home will hopefully give our season the kick up the backside it needs.

Speaking after our 3-1 win over the Black Cats, the boss admitted that the win should do our confidence the world of good.

Although as professional athletes footballers should be able to pick themselves up after a run of poor results, they’re only human and when things aren’t going your way, it can take its toll. Now we’ve proven that we can get results, even if we’re not playing our best and missing several players, and we should be able to get back on the horse.

“It was a very important game for us tonight because we came out of three disappointing results,” the boss said.

“We had lost only one game but I think it was a very, very important game for us today, psychology, for the fact we had not won, for the fact we had lost important players in our side and we had to show that we can win.”

There’s still a lot of work to do – our defensive performance was terrible and the 3-1 scoreline did flatter us, but it’s a start. It’s something we can build on for our midweek match against Olympiacos, which will determine whether we progress to the knock-out stages of the Champions League or not.
