With Arsenal players dropping like flies with injuries, the club has been linked with a number of players.

One of the most recent links saw the club allegedly chasing Everton’s John Stones with parts of the media claiming that Arsene Wenger had asked the board to buy the centreback during the January window.

Leaving aside it is in midfield and upfront that Arsenal are struggling with injuries, it was always going to be highly unlikely that the Gunners would move for the player that Everton refused to sell to Chelsea over the summer.

Asked if it was true that he had asked the board to sign Stones, Wenger said at his press conference “No, I think I asked my players to focus on tomorrows game, I didn’t ask anything to the board.

“Anyway, it’s not the board who buys the players.

“We are not after John Stones if that’s what you want to know, we are focused on tomorrows game.

“I just tell you exactly the same, we are in December and we focus on tomorrows game.”

Arsenal welcome Sunderland to the Emirates hoping to get back to winning ways in the League after only picking up two points in November.
