After going 1-0 ahead against Sunderland on Saturday, most of us had the sneaking suspicion that the scoreline wouldn’t stay that way.
Sure enough, just before half time Sunderland got a dubious free-kick and Giroud managed to kick it into the roof of our own net. Great.
Luckily we came back to win 3-1 through goals from Giroud (greedy, to be honest) and Ramsey, which is why I can now take a moment to joke about Twitter’s reaction to the Frenchman’s original blunder.
Some saw the funny side…
Giroud is such a glory hunter, scored an own goal so he could give us the lead smh

Who says Giroud isn’t a good finisher?! https://t.co/10v8T3THqt — Footy Accumulators (@FootyAccums) December 5, 2015
What’s more annoying: Giroud scoring an OG or Motson’s pronunciation of Gi-rude?

Giroud has cornered the market in looking to the heavens with indignation… — Andy (@yorkshiregunner) December 5, 2015
While some didn’t take the own goal quite as well…

Koscielny conceded a stupid free kick, and Giroud scored a stupid own goal. Welcome to my club guys, #Arsenal, where stupid players thrive. — Godwin Aruwayo (@GodwinAruwayo) December 5, 2015
Giroud was so close to finally becoming a cult hero then Walcott got injured. Hate figure once again.
