Former Manchester United midfielder, Andrei Kanchelskis, has urged Arsenal target Alexander Kokorin to move to north London in January.
The striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners during the winter transfer window, with recent reports even suggesting that we’ve made a bid.
Now, former Russian footballer, Kanchelskis, has backed the 24-year-old and is confident that the Dynamo Moscow star will be an excellent addition to our team.
“Kokorin should jump at the chance to leave Russia and go to that country,” he said.
“Arsenal are the best option for Alexander’s career. If he is prepared to work a lot, he will not have any problems.”
He added, “He will not be like Andrei Arshavin and will become a top class forward for the London club.”
If someone in the media is encouraging the move, it does appear there’s more to this rumour than meets the eye. Although nothing tangible has been uttered by either side recently, the speculation is hotting up and with Alexis reportedly suffering a set-back, it stands to reason that we’ll be looking for back-up.
Buying a young striker is a sensible choice. We don’t prevent Giroud and Walcott from progressing but have adequate, capable cover should we need it.
Definitely one to watch.
