Jorge Sampaoli is one of the latest managers to be linked with the Arsenal job after Arsene Wenger moves upstairs.

The Chile national team manager has been coaching since 1994. However, the clubs he’s worked for haven’t quite been at Arsenal’s level, which makes me skeptical that we would hire him.

With all due respect, although he won the Copa America this year (2015), wouldn’t we prefer a manger with a little more experience at the top level, like Guardiola, to take over from one of the best managers in the world?

Employing someone who has no experience in the Premier League or Champions League seems like a bit of a gamble and we know Arsenal don’t like a gamble.

On the other hand, as the Chile coach, Sampaoli has a connection to Alexis and could get the best out of him. In addition, he also appears to be a manager in the ascendancy after making the three-man FIFA World Coach of the Year shortlist.

I’m not positive Wenger will even leave after his current contract runs out. I’m pretty sure we’ll have Le Professeur running our team for a few more years yet.
