Rumours linking Arsenal to striker Breel Embolo have resurfaced in light of fresh hear-say that Danny Welbeck could be out for even longer than initially thought.

Despite Wolfsburg reportedly making an £18m bid for the Basel man, we’re supposedly still monitoring the situation and keen to bring him in as back-up.

Embolo has scored eight goals and made four assists so far in 23 appearances for the Swiss team this season and appears to be pretty talented. However, with the likes of Theo Walcott returning from injury, centre-forward isn’t a glaringly obvious position we need to strengthen.

Although there aren’t any huge prospects coming up from our youth squad, it still doesn’t seem to be a huge matter of importance and we’re far more likely to dip into the market for a midfielder than a striker.

Saying this, Embolo is a much more likely prospect than a big name striker, as Giroud doesn’t need replacing.
