Arsenal look set to play part of their 2017/18 pre-season in Australia.

There had been rumours that the Gunners would travel down under before this season, however they opted to travel to Asia for what was a short pre-season and it is likely that next pre-season will also be short due to the Euros – hence why they will not travel to Australia until 2017.

Arsenal will play two A-League teams at ANZ Stadium in 2017 as part of their preseason preparation, one against Sydney FC another against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Dates for the games have not yet been announced but it is thought they will take place towards the end of July 2017.

It will be the first time since 1977 that Arsenal have played in Australia and they will be hoping they fare better than they did back then.

The Gunners lost 3-1 to an Australia side that featured John Kosmina and Peter Wilson.
