Following Arsenal’s 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, Arsene Wenger spoke about our small chance of qualifying for the next round of the Champions League.

Arsenal now sit bottom of our group and it’s looking incredibly unlikely that we’ll go through, although after losing our opening two matches I doubt that’s a surprise to anyone.

In fact, if we don’t go through, it appears that the only person who might be surprised is Wenger.

Speaking after the match he said, “There is still a chance to qualify. It’s a small chance but there is still a real one.”

There’s no reason for us get too down about the result in the Champions League. Now we can fully concentrate on the Premiership but although I realise Wenger has to be positive, sometimes it can appear as if he’s just clutching at straws, which annoys people further.

Occasionally you just want the manager to turn around and say, look, we’re not progressing but we’ll continue to improve, look at where we went wrong and compete elsewhere.
