After both Francis Coquelin and his replacement Mikel Arteta were taken off against West Brom, Wenger admitted that he’s unsure how long either one will be sidelined for.
It just keeps getting better for Arsenal. Now, not only do we have Rambo, Theo, the Ox, Welbeck, Rosicky and Wilshere out (have I missed anyone out?), we can add Coquelin and Arteta to that list as well.
According to the boss, Arteta’s injury is only a muscular problem, while Coq’s is his knee.
“We have two more injuries,” he said.
“One is a muscle problem for Arteta and the other one is a knee problem and I don’t know how serious that is but we will know certainly tomorrow, for Coquelin. Arteta is a calf.”
I assume the boss is referring to Arteta’s injury being his calf muscle and not a baby cow.
Fortunately, depending on how you look at it, Coquelin appeared to walk off the pitch unaided which, in theory, rules out one of the more serious knee injuries, such as his ligaments. However, even if the Frenchman is only sidelined for a few weeks, it’s still a huge blow for the squad, which is currently down to its bare bones.
Now, we’re relying on Flamini to perform week in, week out, which, with all due respect, may be asking a bit much.
Hopefully it’s not serious.
