Arsene Wenger hailed West Brom’s performance at the Hawthorns on Saturday after they beat Arsenal 2-1.

As much as the Gunners were poor, the Baggies were well organised and resilient. Although we didn’t necessarily deserve to lose, neither did they, and they managed to frustrate and keep us out for the entire match.

Following our loss, Wenger praised West Brom’s ability to fight back after we went 1-0 up early.

“West Brom fought back with 100 per cent commitment,” said the boss.

“At 35 minutes were ahead but at 45 we were losing.”

Not only did West Brom qualise within minutes of Giroud scoring for us, they quickly went 2-1 up. A scoreline we couldn’t managed to come back from.

Sometimes there are no excuses. We played poorly and just didn’t have a good day. All we can do now is recognise where we went wrong and chalk it up to ‘one of those days’. As long as ‘those days’ don’t happen too frequently, we should be fine.

Saying that, if we could start to get players back from injury as soon as possible, that would be nice.
