Arsene Wenger has made a shocking admission ahead of our match against Norwich.

The boss revealed that the Premiership is so tight now that he doesn’t even pay attention to the league table. Firstly, is he telling the truth? And secondly, is this the right way to approach it?

“Mathematically you cannot rule [Chelsea] out – even the bottom teams are in it,” the boss said.

“It is so difficult. It is so tight and I don’t even look at the league anymore because it is very, very tight.

“Last week we had a bad result against West Brom and so did Manchester City [against Liverpool] so it compacted the whole table.”

When Wenger says he doesn’t look at the table, I’m sure this isn’t strictly true. I’m sure he does. However, what he probably means is that he just doesn’t ‘care’ what it says at the moment because it’s too early in the season the become fixated on such things – especially when it’s so tight at the top.

The top four is separated by only two points. A win or loss can send you to the top or knock someone out of the Champions League places. Watching it intently now won’t do anyone any good. Instead, it’s better to just focus on our games in hand and do the best we can in those.
