Tony Pulis praised Alexis and, perhaps more oddly, Cazorla following the Spaniard’s penalty miss in our 2-1 defeat to West Brom on Saturday.

The Baggies’ manager described both players as ‘wonderful’, which is not only strange terminology, but also not strictly true.

“Arsenal played very well, especially in the second half,” he admitted.

“Sanchez and Cazorla are wonderful players so we’re very pleased to get this win – the lads really deserved this result today.”

Although Alexis was his usual fantastic self, Cazorla missed a crucial penalty, which could have seen us equalise and nab a point right in the dying minutes of the match. Unfortunately, the midfielder slipped and kicked the ball into the other leg, sending it over the bar and squashing any hope we had of a come back.

It was an honest mistake and it wasn’t Cazorla’s worst game in an Arsenal shirt. However, to pick him as one of our stand-out players is a little surprising.

Oh yeah, ol’ Tony also believes the penalty was soft anyway, which isn’t really that shocking in the slightest.

Classic Pulis. What a card.
