Lukas Podolski seems to be enjoying his life in Turkey.

Then again, you do get the impression that Lukas Podolski would enjoy life absolutely anyway. The guy is always smiling and making jokes on social media, he has a pretty carefree attitude on the face of things.

Until he doesn’t play much because everyone sort of figures out he’s a bit of a limited footballer. Those limits are by no means bad – he shoots and crosses very well. That means plenty of goals and assists, when he can provide them. Problem is he rarely got himself into a position to provide them, that or he would

“This is a question for the coach. I was good, had good records of goals and assists, but the coach went with someone else,” Podolski has told Portuguese publication A Bola, who had asked about Wenger’s reluctance to use the forward (per Sport Witness).

“But what frustrates is when you sit on the bench and you feel you can help the team score, make assists. That’s why I spoke to the club and moved.”

Hmm, it seemed that both parties were happy for you to move on Lukas but please keep telling yourself that it was entirely your decision if it makes you feel better.

A player who had poor movement, no impressive pace, a lack of versatility and rarely produced a spectacular pass was unlikely to ever make it at Arsenal. Podolski was far too limited and the club didn’t need him.

Ultimately the move in the summer suited everyone, so it’s a shame the German international still sounds a little confused by Wenger’s reluctance to give him regular time on the pitch last season.
