Commentating on Arsenal 4-1 Liverpool from last season, Héctor Bellerín and Nacho Monreal didn’t hesitate to praise themselves and each other to the high heavens.

The game saw Bellerín score the opening goal and Monreal put in a very solid performance, so the two Spaniards naturally told every just how brilliant they were.

This season both players have been in superb form, and are arguably Arsenal’s two most consistent performers – Mesut Özil aside. They have ousted Mathieu Debuchy and Kieran Gibbs from the side after both were first choice at the start of last season and are showing no signs of letting them back in.

Without Bellerín in the last two games, Arsenal have certainly lost something down the right flank while Gibbs is currently limited to substitute appearances as a midfielder, such is the high standard of Monreal’s form.
