Arsenal Ladies have announced that left winger, Chioma Ubogagu, will leave the club as her contract has ended.

Ubogagu signed up at the beginning of the 2015 season and has been a success during her short time at the club.

It is a surprising move as she has been in superb form, coming straight from Stanford University and taking over from Rachel Yankey on the left wing. She has made 21 appearances, scoring seven times.

Goals (FA WSL 6, Conti-Cup 1)

She scored the equaliser against Notts County, coming on as a sub for her debut rescuing a point for the Gunners. She then scored the winning goal away to Manchester City, also in the League. Her next goal rescued a point away to Bristol Academy in the League.

She also scored the winner at Birmingham City Ladies, as well as a double against Sunderland Ladies and her non FA WSL goal was scored in the FA WSL Continental Cup final when she closed the score against Notts County.

Quite a good return for a winger and some very important goals as well.

Statistics

She has the third best minutes-per-goal rate in the League with a goal every 139.5 minutes, she was also number 10 in the number of dribbles completed with 21. She also provided a couple of assists.

Overall, it does not make really sense to see her go on the football side of things, considering how efficient she has been for the team.

Rumours going round suggest an England international forward playing abroad might come in, although it would be a player with a different profile.

An England full-back has also been mentioned, which would mean that Emma Mitchell could be deployed as a left winger rather than at left-back.
