Danny Blind has admitted that Robin van Persie and Memphis Depay had a disagreement while away training with the Dutch team but was it wise to air the team’s dirty laundry?

Training ground spats, especially with abrasive characters like Van Persie on the team, are bound to happen. When you get that many people together, you’re bound to disagree and these arguments can quickly get nasty if not nipped in the bud and tempers are running high.

“There are sometimes situations in training where players think different,” Blind said.

“Then you talk about it. That’s what happened and then it’s over.”

The fact that Depay and RvP had a falling out isn’t shocking. However, what is shocking is that Blind has spoken out about it. Usually clubs do everything they can to keep disputes between the players out of the press and here we have an actual witness telling the world.

In-team disputes should be kept private in order to prevent fans from overreacting and to keep morale high. Knowing all is not rosy behind the scenes won’t instill confidence in their fan base.
