Newcastle star Moussa Sissoko is targeting Champions League football one day, which hints that the Magpies don’t feature in his future plans.

Newcastle have had a terrible season so far and currently sit right at the bottom of the Premier League table with just three points from a possible 24.

Saying this, the midfielder is happy to stay in Newcastle for the time being.

“I hope to play in the Champions League one day. Newcastle did everything to keep me [in the summer],” he said.

“Yes of course [I want to continue at Newcastle], I have a contract with them. “Lots of things could happen but I leave my agent to deal with all that.”

Arsenal have been linked to the Frenchman in the past and are bound to be one of the first rumoured clubs that the 26-year-old will be linked with should he decided to leave the Magpies. However, it’s doubtful that we’d want the player now, considering the talent we’ve already got in his position.

So far, Sissoko has been a main feature for Newcastle, playing eight times this season. The midfielder only has a single assist to his name though and although he may want Champions League football, do Champions League teams want him?
