A return to Serie A football saw Wojciech Szczesny win with Roma on Sunday.
The Italian club had a disappointing time in midweek, losing to BATE Borisov in the Champions League after Szczesny had made a bad error in a 3-2 defeat.
The goalkeeper had been out for a fortnight after an injury suffered against Barcelona but is back now and spoke of his desire to put the BATE game behind him and win against Palermo on Sunday.
“[It’s an] excellent opportunity to redeem ourselves, we are focused and we want to please the fans,” Szczesny said in the build-up to the game at the weekend.
“We have turned a corner, our target is to win the championship and to do so we have to win a lot of games from here.”
A win against Palermo wasn’t a bad way to respond. The club from the Italian won 4-2 away from home to go up to fourth in the Serie A table.
Roma are six points clear of last season’s champions, Juventus, and made up two points on Internazionale over the weekend. Fiorentina continued their impressive start to the season with a fifth consecutive win, Roma are four points behind them after seven games.
Maybe Wojciech can impress everyone as the season goes on and has a successful season with Roma.
