As Arsenal were securing a famous victory against Bayern Munich, on-loan goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny wasn’t having quite as much joy against another German opponent.

Szczesny’s AS Roma side travelled to Leverkusen, where they found themselves 2-0 down within the opening 20 minutes. The first was a penalty, the second a rebound. Neither had Szczesny at fault.

Incredibly, Roma recovered to grab a 4-2 lead before the hosts scored twice in the final six minutes to earn themselves a point. Once again, Szczesny couldn’t be held accountable. Kevin Kampl scored a screamer before Admir Mehmedi converted a cross in at the back post.

A better night was had by Chuba Akpom, who finally grabbed his third goal for Hull City. After 12 goalless appearances in all competitions for Hull, the 20-year-old showed a great turn of pace, excellent movement and a composed finish in a 3-0 defeat of Ipswich Town, for whom Ainsley Maitland-Niles played the whole second half.

Akpom was also named man of the match, and collected his award after the game.
