Former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby is finally set to make his first appearance for Olympique Marseille.

The Frenchman joined the Ligue 1 side in the summer after his contract was not renewed at the Emirates Stadium, and could play his first game in over 12 months on Friday, after the official Marseille account tweeted confirmation that he is available for selection.

Two days later, and he is still fit.

While much of the squad is off on international duty, Marseille have arranged a friendly for youth players and the remaining first team members. On Friday evening they will take on Nîmes, who currently lie 20th in Ligue 2.

Hopefully Diaby features and it is the start of him getting his career back on track with the French club. He’s still just 29 years old, and has a good few years left in him as long as he can stay fit.

Fingers crossed for Abou, and the start of an excellent spell at Marseille.
