Stoke City manager Mark Hughes was disappointed with his side’s showing as Arsenal won at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

It was Stoke’s eight game at the Emirates Stadium and they lost after an eighth consecutive loss, leading to Hughes criticising the productiveness of his side.

Stoke are well known for getting tight to the opposition and being horrible to play against, particularly against Arsenal, but once again they weren’t able to impose themselves on a game in north London.

“Today we weren’t good enough to go toe-to-toe with a very good Arsenal team,” Hughes said to Sky Sports.

“We weren’t bright enough in our defensive work. We allowed good players time and space to create and move.

“We just didn’t get to the source of the problem. We didn’t close people down.”

Hughes reiterated the same issues again speaking to the BBC, but was also complimentary about Arsène Wenger’s men.
