Thierry Henry returns to Arsenal

Thierry Henry has become our new u18 and u21 attacking coach.

A while ago, the Arsenal legend began coaching with us in order to obtain his coaching badges. Now, it’s emerged that he’ll be assisting our youth players with their attacking game.

“I want to try to give back what I’ve learned and pass on advice. It is also for me to learn and see how to prepare a training session, be a coach,” he said.

“Hopefully what I say to the kids is going to help them. They respect what you have done [as a player] but you need to talk sense if what you say is going to have an impact on their career or [their performance] on the day.

“Arsenal is a family and you never really leave. It will always be in me and it’s nice to be working with the younger players. I am very happy with that.”

Since retiring from football, the forward has been trying his hand at punditry and although it doesn’t look as if he’ll be packing that in any time soon, he appears to be pressing on with his dream of some day becoming a manager.

The idea of Henry returning to Arsenal in any capacity makes Gooners feel a bit guilty. For him to gradually be taking up more of a hands-on role within the club, it definitely feels as if he’s heading in the right direction if he someday wants to become Arsenal manager.

I think that’s the most exciting part about this news. Everyone knows Arsenal is the ultimate destination for him and that’s where he’s training to be. The idea that living legend, the King himself, could one day be Arsenal manager isn’t just a dream anymore.
