After it emerged that Jack Wilshere would be out for a further month following his leg fracture, former Gunner John Hartson has extended his sympathy to the midfielder.

Just when Wilshere looked as if he was getting back to something that resembled his best, he picked up a leg fracture in training. The 23-year-old was only supposed to be out for a maximum of six weeks but, as we all know, injuries with Arsenal and Wilshere in particular are never that straight forward.

Hartson spoke recently about Wilshere’s poor injury record and admitted that he’s just that type of player who seems destined to always be injured.

“He is just very injury-prone,” the former Arsenal man said. “I am not a medical expert so I can say’t they haven’t deal with it properly. I just think some players are destined to be injured all the time.”

Hartson continued, “Jack is so, so unfortunate because he has so much to offer when he is fit.

“He has been at Arsenal all of his career and the amount of appearances he has had is shocking really.

“Whenever he gets anywhere near full fitness, he has a setback, so you have to feel for the lad.”

There’s something unbelievably sad about Wilshere’s injury woes. Similar to Diaby, the midfielder just can’t catch a break and it seems to be one thing after the other with him now. It must be hugely demoralising because when he is finally back on the pitch again, another injury must always be at the back of his mind.
