Steven Gerrard has admitted that one of his ultimate dinner guests would be Arsene Wenger.

However, the reasoning behind the former Liverpool captain’s choice isn’t because he wants to ask one of the world’s greatest ever managers about tactics, money, players or rivalries. No. It would be to stir up controversy with Gerrard’s other selected dinner guests.

“Jose Mourinho, Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Rafa Benitez — and Jamie Carragher to really stir up the s*** between them,” he said.

To be fair, Gerrard would probably be a little bit disappointed if he expected fisticuffs at his dinner party, considering Sir Alex Ferguson and Wenger appear to be pretty good friends now; as far as I know there isn’t much ‘beef’ between Rafa Benitez and anyone; and as much as the tension between Jose Mourinho and Wenger is palpable, I don’t think they’d resort to getting out their dueling gloves. They’re far too passive-aggressive for that.

Jamie Carragher can just sit there whining, I guess.

During the interview, the midfielder also said that Patrick Vieira was his most difficult opponent. This isn’t a new revelation, considering Gerrard has said before that he tried to emulate the midfielder. Who wouldn’t?
