That’s right, it’s already started.

Arsenal are reportedly still after Willian Carvalho, despite the midfielder being currently injured.

The Sporting Lisbon star was linked with a move to north London during the summer transfer window but obviously, nothing ever happened.

Now, even after the window has shut, we’re still being linked with the youngster, who appeared 42 times for his Portuguese team last season.

However, even if we were interested in the £25m defensive midfielder once, Mathieu Flamini’s miraculous performance against Spurs in the Capital One Cup may have just put it to bed.

Carvalho was originally supposed to be an addition to sure up our midfielder defensively should Coquelin get injured. This was because we were looking to sell Flamini. However, this isn’t necessarily looking like the dead cert we thought it was back in the summer.

Regardless, the notion that we’re eyeing up a player who hasn’t even featured for his team yet this season is ridiculous.
