Our former vice-chairman David Dein refused to criticise Arsene Wenger on his lack of activity in the transfer window, insisting that the manager knows what he’s doing.

Dein was the person responsible for Wenger’s appointment at Arsenal, as well as key signings in our history, such as Ian Wright.

After Dein and Arsenal parted ways in 2007 due to ‘irreconcilable differences’, most Gooners believe our scouting system and quality of signings has gone south. However, this is probably far more to do with us paying off the Emirates and not having the available funds than Dein leaving.

When asked recently about our activity in the transfer, the former vice-chairman refused to bad mouth the manager, insisting that he knows exactly what he’s doing and that the Frenchman is a victim of his own success.
