With the news that Gabriel will also face an additional ban for his reaction to being sent off, the clearest view yet of what he was actually red carded for has emerged.

If you have a look here (24 seconds) you will see very clearly that the Arsenal man does take a very, very, very, very, very, very light kick at the cheaty one, so light in fact, you’d never see Mike Dean send a player off for that sort of thing if they did it against us.

I’m not condoning it, just asking why that is a straight red card while the one in the video below isn’t even a foul (or charge):
