Oscar has found himself out of favour this season, but the Brazilian midfielder hopes his Chelsea side are back following their midweek win.

The Blues defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv on Wednesday night, comfortably winning 4-0, and the midfielder feels the victory has lifted spirits ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game against Arsenal.

“Everyone was feeling a little sad before the game because we haven’t been winning games and we need to win for everyone to stay happy,” the midfielder said following Chelsea’s second win in the last seven games. “Now we have won again, everyone is happy and are easy to prepare for the next game against Arsenal.

“Everyone has changed. When we win games, everyone is happy now. The confidence is coming again.”

Chelsea won the Premier League last season but already find themselves 11 points behind Manchester City after just five games. An Arsenal win on Saturday would send them nine points clear of José Mourinho’s side just three weeks into September.

Nonetheless, Oscar is feeling upbeat following the 4-0 win and hopes the victory will give Chelsea a much-needed lift.

“This team won the Premier League last season and it is the same players now. We just need to take our confidence into games and win them.”

Arsenal, on the other hand, need to recover from a bleak game on Wednesday night. Confidence may well be low following a demoralising 2-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb, but the Gunners can’t afford to let that influence Saturday’s performance.

Both teams need to bounce back this weekend, hopefully it’s Wenger’s men who put previous disappointment aside to respond with a win.
