Karim Benzema claims that there was never any talk about him leaving Real Madrid and that he has every intention of staying there.

After months of speculation that the forward would be heading to north London this summer, the rumours came to an end the moment Benzema made his plans to stay in Madrid very clear via social media. The player has gone on to explain that there was never a chance of him coming to Arsenal.

The 27-year-old was tipped to become an Arsenal player by just about every sports journalist out there and, according the reports, Arsenal were in talks over a move for him but they fell through.

Now, it appears that the talks were never happening, if the man himself is to be believed.

“There was nothing in the talk of a transfer away from Madrid,” he said.

“I’m happy at my current club, it’s the best in the world. I’ll continue to work here and be happy where I am.”

Call me cynical, but if we were in talks with the La Liga giants over a transfer for one of their star players and the deal fell through, I don’t exactly see the player openly talking about the fact he almost left the club afterwards. However, of course, he could be telling the truth and we were never even interested in him.
