Arsenal Ladies secured a very important win on Saturday evening and are still on course for Champions League qualification for the first time since the 2012 season.

Arsenal managed an impressive 2-0 win at Liverpool Ladies thanks to a Dominique Janssen free-kick and a late Jordan Nobbs goal. The Ladies are trailing Chelsea by five points with two games to play so are not likely to win the title. They are level on points with second placed Man City but the Citizens have a game in hand at home to Liverpool on Thursday to go with their superior goal difference.

Arsenal will have to hope for a Liverpool win on Thursday, otherwise it will be very complicated to reach the second qualifying place for the Champions League.

Here are the remaining games for the top four teams still competing for the top two places:

1.Chelsea Ladies 26 pts +12

Liverpool A
Sunderland H

2.Man City Women 21 pts +6

Liverpool H
Bristol H
Notts County H

3.Arsenal Ladies 21 pts +5

Sunderland A
Birmingham H

4.Sunderland Ladies 20 pts + 6

Arsenal H
Chelsea A

City are clear favourites to win the title if they beat Liverpool on Thursday. Arsenal might end up with 27 points and, unfortunately, in third place. I am expecting Chelsea to reach at least 29 points and City a minimum of 27 points as well, plus whatever they pick up against Liverpool.
