Among the plethora of young centre-forwards we’ve reportedly set our sights on recently is Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi.
The 22-year-old has scored 36 goals in 72 appearances for the Serie A team, with 27 of those coming last season, in addition to nine assists. These stats, in anyone’s language, are unreal. However, is there any truth to the claims?
Doubtful. Icardi has only just signed a big, shiny new contract with Milan and, looking at his stats, it’s not hard to understand why the club are eager to keep hold of the youngster.
In addition, the same reports are also still saying we’re going to try and sign Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani again in January, although I’m fairly certain that the Benzema ship has sailed and I’m not convinced we were ever interested in Cavani at all.
I’d therefore treat this with a pinch of salt. However, although I don’t know much about him, I’m sure he’d be a great signing.
